Pastor John L. Widdifield founded Remnant Church in Fuquay-Varina in 2022 with a commitment to historic Christian orthodoxy, Wesleyan-Arminian theology, serious biblical teaching, and holy living.
Remnant is not built around religious entertainment or the need to flatter the age. We gather under the lordship of Jesus Christ to hear the Word, worship God, repent of sin, receive grace, strengthen one another, and become the kind of people whose allegiance remains settled when faithfulness becomes costly.
Pastoral leadership
Pastor John L. Widdifield
Pastor John leads Remnant’s Sunday preaching and teaching ministries. Katherine Widdifield serves Remnant Church as emeritus pastor.
John L. Widdifield founded Remnant Church in Fuquay-Varina in 2022 and serves as its founding pastor. He preaches on Sundays and leads Midweek Refuel. Outside his pastoral role, he creates Cult of the Penguin as an independent creative project. His pastoral ministry emphasizes careful biblical preaching, historic Christian orthodoxy, Wesleyan-Arminian theology, holy love, and faithful obedience. Drawing on Scripture, Christian history, cultural discernment, old books, and pastoral humor, he seeks to help people—especially young men hungry for truth and purpose—move from questions about faith and culture toward deeper Christian formation.

Remnant carries a particular burden for young men who are hungry for truth, brotherhood, purpose, self-command, and a life worth giving to Christ.
Holy courage
Christian strength is neither cowardice nor brutality. It is meek strength: conviction under authority, courage without hatred, and obedience shaped by the Cross.
